Earth Day and Your Business

Every April 22^nd we celebrate Earth Day where events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciate for the Earth’s natural environment.  Earth Day 2012 is themed to be “Mobilize the Earth.”  The expectation is that more than 1 billion people around the world will voice their appreciation for the planet and plead for it to be protected.  At Roselius Insurance Agency, we would like to help raise the importance of environmental issues that may surround many of our Ohio business insurance clients.  Here are a few ways that you can help our environment.

1. Save Energy:  When looking to save energy with your business there are several easy steps you can take.  First, set your thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer or a few degrees lower in the winter.  Businesses can also look to unplug appliances when they aren’t in use. 
2. Conserve Water:  Plant drought tolerant plants outside of your business to prevent the need of increased watering.  Installing a water faucet aerator on each faucet in your business helps reduce the use of water as well.
3. No Bottled Water:  Besides being expensive, bottled water creates a large amount of waste.  Bring a reusable water bottle to work or possibly install a permanent water cooler in the office.
4. Keep Electronics Lasting Longer:  Attempt to do whatever possible to keep electronics such as cell phones, computers, printers, etc. as long as possible.  Once they absolutely need to be replaced, be sure to donate or recycle them when the time comes.

Besides these, there are plenty of other things you can do to help make your business better for the environment.  On this Earth Day 2012, look to make changes in your business that benefit the planet.
