National Children’s Dental Health Month

For those of you that didn’t know, February is National Children’s Dental health Month.  The theme this year is “Rock Your Smile” in hopes of helping to improve children’s dental care.  At Roselius Insurance Agency writes a great deal of Ohio dental insurance.   With our familiarity on the subject, we are always looking for ways to help you save, in this case, to save on your health insurance premiums.  We present to you dental care tips to help your child improve their dental health. 

1. 6 Month Check Up:  Regular 6 month dental care checkups are essential to having overall good dental health.  It not only prevents current problems but it establishes a good routine for your child.
2. Brush Regularly:  Have your child brush his or her teeth twice a day.  Again, this not only helps promote good dental health but establishes a good routine for years to come.  When you help your child brush their teeth, brush their tongue too.
3. Rinse Your Mouth After Meals:  In a perfect world your child could brush their teeth after each meal.  Since that’s often not the case, recommend that they at least rinse their mouth with water after each meal.
4. Avoid Drinks that Stain:  Avoiding drinks that stain such as sodas will prevent your child from an increased risk of cavities.  It also promotes keeping their teeth white and shiny!
5. Drink Milk:  Milk is rich in calcium, one of the key ingredients for strong teeth. 
6. Anti-Bacterial Mouthwash:  After brushing, teach your child how to use mouthwash.  This will help rid their mouth of the bacteria that can cause cavities.
7. Floss:  Finally, teach your child how to floss.  In many cases it may be easier for you to do this for them.  Flossing promotes strong gums and will keep them healthy.
